There’s one thing we all know for sure… the student population within our schools today is rapidly changing.

Teachers and administrators are desperately trying to get into the heads and hearts of their students, but they are struggling.

Maybe you’ve tried various types of diversity and inclusion trainings or have brought in other experts to teach your teams what they should and shouldn’t do when interacting with their students. But nothing seems to “stick” or inspire the shifts that so desperately need to happen. There’s still a major disconnect that’s impacting learning, morale, and culture, and unless we become more aware, it will hold us back from creating the type of schools we dream of having.

But there is an alternative approach.

Our way in is to understand how our brains are wired. When we have the space and opportunity to take a clear look at the way we think, we can take steps to create a school environment where students and teachers listen to each other and work together, and the school becomes a safe learning space for everyone.

Here at Thought Design, we’ve been creating brain science-based adult learning experiences for over 30 years, helping individuals to look at how their thinking and behavior can be shifted to better their teams, companies and lives. Inspired by the breakthroughs we’ve seen with our non-profit and corporate clients, we’ve created a workshop specifically geared toward educators. Mind of a Student” is a workshop for education professionals, custom-designed to enhance your team’s ability to think differently, engage with each other and connect with their students in ways they haven’t before.

What makes our training different is that it’s truly about the dynamics of your specific team and their students. There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to this type of thinking, and the beauty in how we’ve structured this workshop lends itself to a completely unique experience that keeps your staff and students at the center. It’s like working from the inside out. We teach them why they think the way they do and how to evaluate their thinking patterns, and then give them the tools and strategies to implement into real life situations when they are back in the classroom.

You’re invited to attend a FREE session here at Thought Design, where you can learn firsthand what this training is all about.

The workshop covers these areas of focus:

  • In-group and out-group cognitive bias and how it influences the way we connect with others, specifically student:teacher and teacher:teacher relationships
  • Cognitive empathy through various perspective taking exercises, and how it influences relationships
  • The SCARF model of understanding motivation and what triggers the brain’s defense responses

We’re offering a unique opportunity for you to sample this workshop for free. At the Exploratory Session on Tuesday, June 19, we’ll walk you through the three areas of focus, the brain science behind each one, the various exercises and how they work. This is a great way for you to experience the workshop firsthand, to determine if it’s a good fit for your group.

You’ll walk away from this session with tools and ideas you can share with your staff right away for immediate impact, and a bigger understanding of how this type of training can bring a whole new perspective to how your teachers interact with their students.
